Palak (Spinach) Pakoda

Palak (Spinach) Pakoda

Hi Friends, How are you all? Hope you had a wonderful Navarathi (Dasara). For this navarathri I prepared some goodies as usual. Actually I prepared all these for a pot luck party that we enjoyed recently. We had a nice gathering on the eve of Navarathris. Palak pakoda is one of those goodies. This is a very easy snack that tastes so great.

Here is the recipe for Spinach Pakoda:

Palak (Spinach) Pakoda

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Spinach, chopped into fine pieces
  • 2 cups Chickpea Flour (Senagapindi, Besan)
  • 1 small Onion, chopped fine or lengthwise (Optional)
  • Some Green Chilies
  • A pinch of Soda
  • Few Cilantro leaves (Optional)
  • Salt
  • Oil to deep fry
Preparation:
  1. Mix all the ingredients together except oil to make a thick paste.
  2. Don’t add too much water. Keep aside.
  3. Pour oil in a pan and when it is hot take small portions of the batter and drop carefully into the hot oil.
  4. Deep fry until they turn into golden brown in color.
  5. Then transfer them into a plate lined with paper towel to remove excess oil.
  6. Repeat the same process with remaining batter.
  7. Transfer all the deep fried pakodas into a serving plate and enjoy with desired sauce or dip.

Here are the other goodies I prepared on the occasion of Navarathris.

Paalakaayalu (Rice Balls) – Recipe can be found here.

Palakaayalu (Savory Rice Balls)

Pesara (Mung Dal) Vadalu – Recipe is coming soon.

Pesara Vadalu (Moong Dal Fritters)

For last year’s Dasara I made Date Laddus that I posted long back.
