Who wants to cook elaborate meals in this hot weather? Well,
not me. But what should you do if you crave for something yummy, healthy and
spicy with less work? Don’t worry, there is a way! Just grab some easily
available stuff (only food stuffJ)
from the pantry and prepare some yummy and easy chat item. No oil, no sweat and
yes less work! Did I mention guilt-free too?
I recently prepared a simple chat item with beaten
rice/poha/atukulu that became ready within 10 minutes and tasted so delicious
too. Of course, many of you already make such kind of chats at home but checkout
my version.
Now to the recipe:
Ingredients: (Serves 2)
- 2 cups Beaten Rice (అటుకులు, Poha)
- ¼ cup finely chopped Onions
- ¼ cup Roasted Bengal Gram (Dahlia, పుట్నాల పప్పు)
- ¼ cup whole Peanuts (పల్లీలు, వేరుసెనగ పప్పు)
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice (optional)
- Red Chili powder – ½ tsp
- Cilantro to garnish
- Salt
Preparation:
- Heat a pan and dry-roast beaten rice + peanuts. Keep aside to cool for some
time.
- Later add dahlia + onions + chili powder + salt to the roasted beaten rice and peanuts.
- Mix well with hand or a spoon. Add some lemon
juice if desired.
- But I personally
felt adding lemon juice to poha made them soft and chewy instead of crunchy. I
might omit adding lemon juice next time when I make this mixture.
- Garnish with
chopped cilantro and enjoy this delicous, guilt-free and light snack with a cup of tea/coffee.
- This is a perfect snack for the evenings with very little process.
- Yummy!!
